Making Christmas cookies..

Ok, I'm doing good getting through all the Christmas festivities...just a few more to go!  :)  We spent a lazy Saturday morning before Christmas baking some yummy homemade sugar cookies!  Gotta have those to put out for Santa...only homemade will do!  :)  We all spent the morning just hanging out in our pj's and enjoying not having anything to do...a rare treat these days!  I made the dough and let it chill while the kiddos ate breakfast and then after a little playtime, we were all ready to make cookies.  The kids were both super excited about it...and SUPER excited about the sprinkles!  They did a good job of cutting out the cookies, but were most excited about decorating them.  Hopefully Santa was ok with some VERY sweet cookies since Jack was quite liberal with the sprinkles on a few of the cookies.  :)  Rylee had fun decorating too- she wanted all of her cookies to be pink...as usual!  She did settle for making the Christmas Tree green with some pink sprinkles on top for the ornaments.

A few pictures of the fun...

The dough is all ready...time to pick which shape to do first!

Making sure to get them pressed down good...

Rylee didn't like having all the flour on her hands...

Starting to decorate...and taking it very seriously!

Previously mentioned VERY sprinkled sugar cookies...

Jack's still decorating, Rylee's busy eating sprinkles...

This, my friends, is the look of a little girl caught with cookie dough in her mouth! :)

Jack couldn't wait for the cokies to get done...he watched the oven very carefully!

growing up we'd make homemade sugar cookies with our mom, too. and of course we'd load a few down with extra sprinkles and we'd each make a special cookie for santa. you're right - santa deserves only homemade sugar cookies. :-) love the pics! maybe next year i'll try making some, but we'll see how that goes!
