Back in the middle of October, we took a weekend trip to Greenville to visit my sister (also known as Say-Say) and her husband, Anthony. The kids LOVE Say-Say and Anthony and were so excited about staying at their house. We met them for lunch when we got there and then headed back to their house to get settled...and attempt to get Rylee a nap (ha!). The weather was quite overcast and we were worried it would rain on our plans, but luckily the weather held out (barely) and we were able to head over to Moore,SC to Nivens Apple Farm for some apple picking. We also met Johns brother Andy there too! It seems we went later in the season this year, so alot of the good apples left were up pretty high in the trees....which meant lots of climbing for John and Anthony. We ended up with two big bags of good apples and have really enjoyed eating them. We've also made a bunch of applesauce as well as a few batches of apple pie filling just waiting in the freezer for the right occasion. I may try my hand at some apple butter, too- we'll see. The rain started up as we were finishing up, so we headed back to the car before getting too wet!
The next stop on our agenda was a trip to The Beacon Drive-In in Spartanburg for dinner. John has felt deprived because he was the only one who had never been there. It is definitely a place to go at least once in your life if only for the experience. We studied the menu before we ordered so we'd be sure to be able to 'Walk and Talk' and not get yelled at in line! We all enjoyed some yummy burgers 'a plenty' with lots of good fries and onion rings. Then we headed back to Say-Say and Anthony's to get ready to watch the USC vs. Alabama game. We had fun hanging out and watching the game...too bad the outcome was not so pretty! We stayed up way too late playing lots of UNO...so much fun, just wish the kiddos would've gotten the memo to let Momma and Daddy sleep in!
We hit the playground down the street after a lazy morning at home and then had a yummy lunch at Moe's before heading back to Lexington. It's always fun to get away every once in a while and we had such a fun time with Sarah and Anthony. We are so blessed to have family that are also such great friends. Hopefully our busy schedules will allow for another trip before too long!
I know this is entirely too many pictures, but I couldn't narrow it down anymore...
All bundled up and ready to go...Jack stayed in the wagon for about a minute... :)
